After eight years, the Voorheesville Central School District has announced that Mark Diefendorf will be stepping down as the Principal of Clayton A Bouton High School at the end of the 2009-2010 school year.  Mr. Diefendorf served the district for twenty years. After being a respected teacher for many years, he shifted into being the principal.

For eight years he brought leadership and change to a small school of approximately 400 students. Most schools experience bullying, fights, and behavior problems weekly. That was not the case with Mark Diefendorf as principal. Clayton A Bouton High School is virtually disruptive free and also drug free.  So people within the school are a little anxious to see how a new principal can compare to Mark Diefendorf.  Can our school stay as one of the most respected and responsible schools in the area? Everyone will find out in a very short time because by the beginning of next year there will be a new principal.

Some students had some very kind words toward Mr. Diefendorf; “I hope Mr. D the best in all after he leaves,” said Rolly Lloyd, a senior at Clayton A Bouton High School.  Conor Cashin said, “ I don’t know if any principal can do as good a job as Mr. Diefendorf.”

On Clayton A Bouton’s high school website it states that the school is looking for applicants that have enthusiasm, creativity, energy and commitment.  Also, the applicants have to be a certified administrator. So now that the principal search is on, students all have one final message to Mark Diefendorf.  They want to thank him for all of his hard work and effort to make Voorheesville High School a fun and safe school, and to wish him the best in all his future endeavors.
