The Voorheesville High School Music Department is more than happy to welcome the New York Voices to our building on February 3rd. The New York Voices is a Grammy Award Winning vocal ensemble recognized for their excellence in jazz music and the art of group singing. This group is ultimately unique for bringing art form to new levels. New York Voices share interest in Jazz, Brazilian, R and B, Classical and other Pop genre’s. The vocal group was formed in 1987 by Darmon Meader, Peter Eldridge, Kim Vazarian, Caprice Fox and Sara Krieger; in which they all attended Ithaca College. In 1989, the four individuals signed their first record deal with GRP Records and released their self-titled debut album, New York Voices.

At the beginning of February, New York Voices will be kicking off the Voorheesville Concert series in honor of Mrs. Tobler. Select Choir and the Juniors and Seniors that participate in choir will have the opportunity to rehearse and then later perform with the most talented New York Voices. The conglomerate will include a workshop during the day and then a public performance at night. Just after Christmas break, classes started going over the notorious Jazz piece called ‘Bli-Blip’. This song is featured on the New York Voices’ album titled Sing! Sing! Sing! and will be an interesting challenge for the young choir group. The upcoming performance(s) will surely be a lovely start to this honorable concert series for the district.
