Goodbye, Mr. (W)right
Going through senior year with teachers you like is something you look forward to. After transferring out of AP Economics and in to regular economics, going into the regular Economics was looking to be easy because I knew everything before. Everything went well through the first couple of days. After that… everything was going down hill. A lot of information that was supposed to be taught wasn’t even covered, and it wasn’t looking good for people who had a tough time comprehending information that was taught late. After hearing that Mrs. Strevell was leaving. It gave me a big relief because then, the subjects that were supposed to be taught were going to be covered. One problem with that was that a lot of information needed to be covered in a short period time.
Meeting Mr. Wright the first day was different than any other greeting. He was fresh, young, and knew exactly what we were made of because he was close to our age. Mr. Wright took the task with pretty much the last month left to re-teach 13 chapters. The funny observation that was made about this was that, in his teacher book, it said that it would take roughly 16 days to teach these chapters, or actually that was the recommended amount. He covered two, sometimes three chapters in a matter of days. Mr. Wright was superman in my eyes because he gave me the chance for once this year in Economics to get a good grade. He prepared us very well for the Midterm/ finial that we took.
What I don’t understand is why things change in the matter of days. Coming to class on a Monday after a good weekend, we heard some news that didn’t making sense: Mr. Wright wasn’t going to be our teacher for Government. This was a shocker because of how well he taught us in such little time. This meant that Mr. Gladd, or another history teacher, was going to take over our class. Mr. Gladd stepped up to the task of taking our 8th period Government class in and teaching us. I’m saddened by all of this because I wanted to see what Mr. Wright had in store for teaching us Government in the second half of the year. Coming into the class after trying out AP economics has made me realize how tough teaching can be in some aspects.
